Magenta Studio is an Ableton Live MIDI plugin built on Magenta’s open source tools and models. It provides five music-generation tools: Continue, Generate, Interpolate, Groove, and Drumify.

The plugin is designed to work from Ableton’s Session View and can be used to extend clips, create new phrases, morph between ideas, adjust drum feel, or generate drum accompaniment from rhythm.

How we innovate

Magenta Studio combines several machine-learning music tools inside a single Ableton Live MIDI plugin, using Magenta’s open source models to generate, transform, and reinterpret clips directly in the Session View.

Use Case / Scenario

1. Extend musical ideas

Use Continue to take an existing melody or drum beat and generate likely follow-on material, extending a clip by up to 32 measures.

2. Create and shape new clips

Use Generate to make a new 4-bar MIDI phrase from scratch, or use Interpolate to blend two melodies or drum beats into a series of in-between variations.

3. Work with drum feel and rhythm

Use Groove to adjust timing and velocity for a more human drum performance, or use Drumify to create drum parts based on the rhythm of another input.
